The VIP Service (otherwise known as a closed caller group) allows the system to treat a pre-registered number making an inbound call to your business differently to normal callers. For example, you may want to set certain numbers to avoid call queueing, or your IVR and ring straight through to a member of the team. Alternatively, you may want the inbound caller to be diverted to a different number altogether to make sure they get to the correct person as quickly as possible.
This is great if you have regular clients that you speak to on a daily basis, or colleagues based at a different location or on the move. With the VIP service, time and energy is saved having to go through the motions that a normal customer or client has to when calling your business i.e. getting through the welcome message and keypad department options and then possible having to still be transferred to the correct person.
More technically, the closed caller group allows one or more CLI that is pre-set to be treated differently than normal callers, i.e. the system recognises the CLI and takes action B, rather than taking action A for any unrecognised numbers.
